17-year-old Mexican student’s fire extinguisher uses sound waves to put out flames; wins gold in Indonesia

Ángela Karime Venegas Hernández won a gold medal for her invention at an international fair. She created a fire extinguisher that uses low-frequency sound waves to extinguish flames. The invention, named Vortex Tech, is based on principles from earlier experiments. Venegas, with the help of her uncle, developed several prototypes before achieving success. She aspires to study engineering after completing her education at CETis 78 in Altamira.
