Before 9/11, families could walk to airport gates; TSA now brings it back at 13 US airports

A new TSA pilot programme is allowing eligible TSA PreCheck members to enter airport gate areas without buying a flight ticket. The Gateside by TSA PreCheck programme is being tested at 13 US airports, including Mesa Gateway Airport in Arizona. Visitors must get a single-day pass and complete the same security screening as ticketed travellers.
