Evaluating HEIs in India: Is NIRF the best judge?

In August, the Union Education Ministry released the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings for 2024. IIT Madras retained its top spot. A recent study by former IIT-Delhi director V Ramgopal Rao revealed inconsistencies in the ranking process, highlighting the lack of transparency and over-reliance on self-reported data. Improvements in methodology are needed for accurate assessment.
