Glowworms return to Yorkshire after 100 years, with first glowing females bred in a Bristol shed

Glowworms have reappeared at Nosterfield nature reserve after a century-long absence. Conservation efforts, which began with larvae raised in a garden shed, show early success. Volunteers observed up to twelve glowing females this summer, indicating survival and development. Historical records confirm glowworms were once abundant in the area before their disappearance. Further releases of captive-reared larvae are planned for later this year.
