Prof Hemachandran Karah’s journey from the Little Flower School for the Blind in Chennai to the University of Cambridge and IIT Madras is a story of education, mentorship and persistence. Encouraged by teachers to look beyond the limitations imposed by disability, Karah pursued higher education and became an Associate Professor at IIT Madras. His work in Disability Studies and accessibility challenges social assumptions about disability, while his interest in blind photography demonstrates how technology and creativity can expand participation.
