J&K notifies private university rules, reserves 25% seats and jobs for locals

Jammu and Kashmir has notified the Private Universities Rules, 2026 to strengthen its higher education framework. These rules include a 25 percent reservation for local domiciles in admissions and jobs. The framework is designed to attract national and international educational institutions, enhancing the quality of education. Private universities must also offer merit-cum-means scholarships for underprivileged students.
