Telangana introduces SC sub-categorisation policy, allocates reservation based on caste backwardness

Telangana has officially enforced Scheduled Caste (SC) sub-categorization, becoming the first state in India to do so after Supreme Court approval. The move aims to fairly distribute reservation benefits among SC sub-castes. Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy highlighted the meticulous legal process involved. The new policy divides 59 SC sub-castes into three groups based on backwardness, allocating reservation percentages accordingly.
