What’s new in UPSC CSE 2026? No second chance for serving IAS, IFS officers; stricter rules for IPS, Group A candidate

The Union Public Service Commission has tightened rules for the Civil Services Examination 2026. Serving IAS and IFS officers cannot reappear. IPS officers can only compete for other services. A one-time improvement chance is available for those allocated in 2026 or earlier. Resignation is mandatory for further attempts after this window.
