Karnataka proposes ban on coaching for under-15s, caps daily classes at five hours

Karnataka has proposed draft rules to regulate private coaching centres, barring students under 15 or those who have not completed Class 10 from enrolling. The rules cap daily coaching at five hours, restrict operating hours to 6 am-9 pm and prohibit classes during school or college hours. They also mandate mental health counsellors, confidential assessment results, tutor training and career guidance. The draft aims to curb academic stress, misleading advertisements and fee-related concerns across the state.
